Dr. Kanter is a licensed psychiatrist and psychotherapist treating children, adolescents and adults. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He then completed six years of postgraduate training, including an internship through Albert Einstein Medical Center/Jefferson University in Philadelphia (emphasis in Medicine); a residency program in Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin (Chief Resident); and then two years of fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin specializing in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
He is double Board Certified in both General/Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Kanter specializes in individual psychotherapy for all ages including preschool, grade school, adolescents and adults. He spends the time needed to develop a thorough understanding of each patient’s unique situation. His approach to treatment addresses underlying issues leading to emotional distress. He is also experienced in combining psychotherapy with medication when necessary to relieve troubling symptoms. He teaches Psychiatry residents at the Medical College of Wisconsin as a Psychotherapy Supervisor, and instructs Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellows in the Pediatric Psychopharmacology Clinic at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin as a volunteer physician.
